Hand-modelled and meticulously crafted to 1/32 scale, this BMW regains the roots of Modelant. Just as we explored back in 2012 the origins of Ferrari in 1940, today we do the same with the racing origins of the Munich-based brand.
The BMW 328 was a model that marked a turning point in the German brand’s history. Our replica, the 1939 BMW 328 Touring Coupe, was the fastest of them all, this time with Italian DNA, even achieving victory at Le Mans.
It is handcrafted in high-quality resin in our workshop in Sabadell and machined as a slot car compatible with any analogue track. As always, most of the materials and tools used are locally sourced and recyclable, helping to protect the environment.
For presentation, we offer our signature wooden trunk-style box, which includes a display diorama and, for the first time, a colour-plate illustration by artist Lluís Llop.

STORY
The story of the BMW 328 began in 1936, when its designer, Fritz Fiedler, succeeded in creating a modern, lightweight, and powerful sports car, achieving numerous successes in competition and contributing to the image that the Bavarian brand still maintains today: sportiness. The commercial version of the 328, launched in 1937, retained the essence of the racing car: a very stable chassis, a powerful engine, and an attractive roadster design that allowed the customer to enjoy a truly sporty experience.
In 1938, the 328 roadster won its category in the Mille Miglia, but its engineers set their focus on the 1939 edition of Le Mans. To this end, they commissioned the Italian company Carrozzeria Touring, specialists in extraordinarily lightweight aluminium designs that they called Superleggera, to assemble a new body kit that would allow them to increase the performance of the car on the long French straights. Meanwhile, in Germany, they worked on the BMW engine, which typically produced 80 horsepower, increasing its power up to 136 horsepower.
The result arrived just in time for the race. They not only obtained a very fast two-seater, but one that was also very attractive in terms of its’ design. It weighed 780 kg and, with its new 136 hp engine, achieved a top speed of 220 km/h.
Prince Max of Schaumburg-Lippe and engineer Fritz Hans Wenscher were responsible for driving the 328 Touring Coupé to the victory in the category 2.0 at Le Mans, and a 5th place overall, behind much larger and powerful cars and just 3 laps from the podium.
