In 1971, Porsche put its 24 Hours of Le Mans title on the line.
Three cars are entered in the long “LH” version, including 2 from the John Wyer Engineering team in GULF colours.
The #17 and #18, driven by Pedro Rodríguez who also took pole position and by Jackie Oliver who set the race time record. Number 18 dominates the race but stops at 6 in the morning after an oil pipeline breaks and floods the cabin.
But there are 2 Porsche 917Ks that have just climbed the first 2 steps of the podium.
